Enchanted Evening at the Farm
From the prep, magic and clean up of the wedding right into set-up for the Gala!
I thought for sure it was going to rain, so I got two 20′ x 20′ tents donated by Envision Financial to cover the cocktail area. We strung more Christmas lights under them just because you can never have too many Christmas lights.
Courtney Urena, of A Posh Event donated her time to our event for the 4th year and helped the event go off without a hitch (well hardly any). Courtney and I almost have it down to a science.
Keith Grant donated his time as our Event Photographer and I will post photos as soon as I get them.
Our Board of Directors “manned” the Reception Table and our guests all received a complementary glass of blubby donated by Board Member, Tracy LaChance.
We had 136 guests join us on a beautiful evening at the farm.
How did we manage to get a beautiful warm, sunny day again for the 6th year in a row?
The gala raised $32,000. Which will help bring 4 groups of children to the farm.
One of the highlights of the evening were the 5 children that attended from Holly Elementary It was very brave of them to meet our guests and share about their time in our children’s program. Our guests were treated to a photo slideshow of the boys with the animals, and their volunteers. Their parents, teacher Bela and principle Andrew were our guests for dinner at Chase’s Table (hosted by BC Plant Health Care).
All through Cocktail Hour, the young Circus Lab performers did a magnificent job of wowing our guests with their random Acro routines!
The animals all got into the act enjoying all the extra attention, music, and treats. This was Henrietta’s second gala and the first one she got to “work.” She cruised the gala the entire evening wowing the guests with her perfect posture, shiny good looks, and ability to duck and weave if you even thought of picking her up All night she searched for those special guests who she knew would sneak her some treats from their dinner plate.
She did have to be tucked in as the sun went down – she is easily lost in the dark
I’m afraid there’s too many SALI Volunteers to mention all their names and to thank them for all their dedicated work prepping for both our events and “working” the wedding and gala. As the Mother of the Bride when the power blew, you told me to relax and it would be taken care of! You all knew what needed to be done, and just got it done. Always professional, kind and with a smile. I will be asking you all, “should we do it again?”
Buzz Denroche for the 6th year in a row took photos of our guests at our SALI Photo Booth. We unabashedly made use of the beautiful ceremony arbour left over from our farm wedding.
Many of our guests really know how to work the props.
