A new face at Kindred
I’m delighted to introduce myself as the newest member of the Kindred Community Farm Sanctuary team as Program Director.
My roots in this work are deep. I grew up in rural Manitoba, surrounded by agriculture and animals which nurtured a love for the land and its creatures early. I have always been fascinated by human/animal and human/plant relationships, which fed into the work I was later drawn into. My career in support work and counselling has focused on supporting children in foster care, kids with special needs, and other at-risk youth and their families, through a trauma-informed lens and I have integrated animal-assisted and nature-based interventions wherever possible. My appreciation for how meaningful connection with an animal, or time spent in the garden, can be for a child has also deepened through observing my own two boys.
This summer, I had an exciting first taste of life at Kindred running camp alongside Chris and Paola. I’m now moving forward with so many ideas for what’s ahead in our programming, and am eager to collaborate with agencies, organizations, and individuals to continue to grow the reach of this very special and important work!
