Douglas’ story of kindness.
At Kindred, we do our best to pair up animals that compliment each other—and can provide comfort in their daily lives. At the time we brought home Douglas, we had a solo goat named Barney and we wanted to find him a friend. We put the word out that we were looking and we were asked if we would consider two sheep, one being Douglas. We decided on the spot to rescue both and thus began beautiful bonds.
Cedar and Douglas arrived at Kindred Farm from a petting zoo in Aldergrove that was forced to shut its doors. Douglas is extremely friendly, having been bottle raised, and very much child friendly. He quickly showed us his playful side, leaping around which created much fun for his new friend, Barney.
Douglas is a Doran sheep, with the classic black face and white body. He wears a permanent smile, and is always there to greet us with his own version of a hello. Douglas is now a senior sheep and needs extra care into his old age. This includes soft foods, soaked timothy hay cubes and plenty of romaine lettuce.
