A baby always needs a family, and our Butter Bean just happened to find the best family here at Kindred Farm. One summer, we received an urgent message from a Wildlife Rescue who had recently taken in a domestic duck called an American Peking Duck, only a few weeks old and needed a home right away. The duck had been abandoned by two young boys who were caught trying to release him on the side of the road. The streets were no place for any duck to be wandering, let alone a domestic duckling!
Kindred could not resist this beautiful white duck and took him in with open arms. We named him Butter Bean. Butter Bean has filled our farm and our hearts with joy, he greets his caregivers with a stride in his waddle and a constant flicking of his tail feathers. He is protective of his mates and watches over the flock. He has added joy to our farm family and we are so grateful our fateful paths crossed that day.
