A girl can’t do that

Oct 5, 2025

On Jane Goodall’s passing this week, I brought out all her books that I have collected over the years. All read multiple times. One of my most treasured possessions, is a signed copy of “Reason for Hope.”

I’ve been stumbling and bumbling along this week with profound sadness on this loss to me and to the world. She was my beacon for hope for the world.

But these past few days have been such an uplifting time on social media. Almost every single post has been photos and memories of Jane from kings, queens, actors, musicians, environmental and animal advocates, photographers and every day people. It was a beautiful reminder of how wonderful social media used to be back in the day. It really lifted my spirits.

This morning, I picked up this book, “I am Jane Goodall” by Brad Meltzer.
Low and behold, here is a message that is resonating so deeply with me now.

“I am Jane Goodall, and I see so much that we have in common.
Watch. Observe. Be patient.
It’ll teach you this:
We don’t own this Earth.
We share it.
Listen to the feeling in your heart.
We are responsible for the animals around us.
We must take care of them.
When one of us is in trouble—be it human, creature, or nature itself—we must reach out and help.
When we do, we build a bridge.”

I believe this is what we are doing at Kindred Farm!
We are building a bridge between people, animals and nature.

Thank you Jane for inspiring me and thousands of young girls to pursue our dreams when so many told us “a girl can’t do that.”

And heartfelt thanks to you!
You are keeping Jane Goodall’s legacy alive one animal—one person at a time.
