Exciting Artistic Partnership with Nicole Carrie
At Kindred Community Farm Sanctuary, we are overjoyed to announce a wonderful collaboration with the talented artist, Nicole Carrie. Nicole, who embarked on her painting journey in 2005 after retiring from a successful 20-year career as the owner of a Ladies clothing store, recently donated her captivating “How you doin’?” rooster canvas to our sanctuary. This vibrant piece adds a splash of colour and creativity to our mission of providing a haven for both animals and art enthusiasts alike.
Nicole’s artistic evolution is truly inspiring. Despite lacking formal training as an artist, she draws on a lifetime of preparation through her studies in Apparel Design at George Brown College in Toronto. Her fashion illustration courses equipped her with invaluable skills in drawing, design, and proportion, laying the foundation for her artistic endeavors. In 2006, a serendipitous encounter at the Mikelson show led her to join a Saturday morning painting workshop, marking the beginning of her journey under the guidance of Joseph CT Wong at the Phoenix Art Workshop in Steveston.
We are enamored by Nicole’s dedication and passion, as evidenced by her participation in various art exhibitions, including “The H’Art of Steveston” show at the Moncton St. Gallery and the Mikelson Festival of Arts in White Rock, B.C. Her love for the outdoors and her garden serves as the primary inspiration for her work, creating pieces that radiate natural beauty and positive energy.
Nicole’s generous donation of the “How you doin’?” rooster canvas adds a unique touch to our sanctuary’s ambiance. As we contemplate its future placement – whether it graces the walls of our new barn, yet to be built, or takes centre stage at an upcoming fundraiser auction – we are grateful for the support of artists like Nicole, who share our vision of creating a compassionate space for all.
