Meet Willow, a Scottish Blackface sheep. Willow was born in February 2024 and is approximately one year old. Willow found a home at Kindred Farm Sanctuary on November 23, 2024.
Willow was born as a twin to a first-time mother, a rare occurrence for initial births. Due to space constraints in the womb, her hind legs were underdeveloped and atrophied at birth. Through dedicated care, targeted exercise and rehabilitation, as well as tender love and nourishment, Willow has regained full health and mobility! Despite her small stature, she has become a vibrant member of the Kindred Farm Sanctuary.

Willow has a distinctive black face and legs, contrasting with her coarse, long white wool.

Willow came to Kindred with her friend, Aspen, who was also a twin from another mom. The two girls are a very bonded pair and are finding their way at Kindred. Willow is working through her shy demeanor as she learns to trust and be comfortable in the company of her caregivers.

Willow is clearly the leader of the two friends, showing bravery and courage. She leads Aspen around, often overstepping her boundaries and being corrected by Aspen! She is curious about the farm volunteers and is learning to cautiously approach and allow them to hand feed her. She plays happily with Aspen, inviting her to chase after her and shows great strides in feeling more “at home” at her new forever home at Kindred. Her curious, soft nature and obvious nurturing demeanor to her sister are very sweet.

Once Willow is more comfortable with human interaction, and settles into her daily life at the farm, she will be able to actively participate in animal-assisted intervention programs, helping to improve the emotional well-being of community members through her gentle presence. Her story of resilience and courage will inspire children and adults who have also faced struggles and have found the courage to trust and have hope.
