First Children’s group
Waiting for the bus
After 3 years of hard work and networking, the first group of children attended SALI’s Farm yesterday! This group is from the Maxxine Wright transition house and are between the ages 3 to 9. Everyone involved knew that the kids would be excited to come to the farm and that they would greatly benefit from activities with the animals, the children’s garden and with nature. We have one volunteer per child so that the children also form close bonds with nurturing adults.
Waiting for the seedlings to be planted
Each child has a set of small gardening tools and gardening gloves
The kids planted the pea seedlings that they had grown from seed into the children’s garden and we hope they will be able to harvest some peas at the end of July. We need the sun to make that happen. We spent the rest of the hour touring the farm and saying hi to all the SALI animals.
A fresh grass handout is always appreciated
Today we all said hi to the chickens and the roosters
